Cleft Lip Palate Surgery Program

ADRA Japan, ADRA Nepal and Sheer Memorial Hospital have jointly organized Cleft, lip and Palate Surgery camp in Sheer Memorial Hospital in Banepa on November 8-21, 2009.
Thirty-five ADRA Japan volunteers visited Nepal, including ADRA Japan Country Director Mr. Mitsuo Chris Ishii who visited ADRA Japan past project sites like Schools, Sub Health post and Biogas projects with other Japanese visitors.
This was ADRA Japan’s 14th Cleft Lip Palate surgery and during these 15 years, ADRA Japan has collaborated with ADRA Nepal and performed over 700 cases. As for this year, 6 plastic surgeons, 6 anesthesiologists, 14 nurses, a pharmacist, a clinical engineer and 2 dietitians worked and operated 47 patients.
During the project, Japan Embassy’s second secretary Mr. Kenichi Tanimoto visited the hospital. This is the first time for him to visit a free surgery program by an INGO and was impressed by the concept of this project.
